Location. Location. Location.

Our Pool Deck

Here’s a useful cruise tip: It’s all about location. For years we chose cabins mid-ship, mid-level, so that we were “mid-way” to all of the action. Big mistake. This year we studied the ship layout and chose a cabin, uhm, I mean, state room, at the back of the boat, way up top. Why? Because it was near a great pool! We were literally 56 steps (and 5 stairs) from a great view, a bar, and an adults-only pool. A perfect location.

Cabin Space Aboard the Emerald Princess

Okay, they’re not called ‘cabins’ on Princess, they’re referred to as ‘State-Rooms’, doesn’t that sound fancier (and so much BIGGER)?

As we mentioned in the last post, the ‘State-Rooms’ aboard the Emerald Princess are very well designed and roomy (relatively speaking, of course). They are definitely better designed than the Royal Caribbean ships that we’ve sailed on. The walk-in closet was the most useful feature as we were able to stay out of each others way while getting ready for dinner, the pool, etc.

We had Chet, our state room steward, push the beds together to make it a double and it still gave us enough room to move around freely. There was a small ‘coffee table’ in the room that was pretty much useless and got in the way, but other than that, no complaints on the room. Here are some photos.
